Felt sick. Might delete later.

Or not.

Yeah. I am putting it up here as a reminder that I survived 2020. My family survived 2020. While some overcame it in 14 days, it took some time for us.

Positive COVID-19 test result from September 2020
The piece of paper that made 2020 very real for us.

But I’m here.

I’m telling you, the hardest part of the virus wasn’t getting sick.

It was being away from your family. Not being able to hug them during the times you most needed hugs.

It was despite being in the same place, not being able to see or be near my husband and the kids. The shut doors were the saddest sights to see.

It was wanting to rest to get better soon, but having to be a nurse, help, cleaner, and cook because no one could get near us to assist and take care of things for us.

It was assuring your friends, family, and relatives that they didn’t need to worry because it would all be over soon, while feeling scared that it might not.

Yet, I’m almost there. Sniffles and coughs are gone. Nose smelling better. Rashes and diarrhea disappeared. Just a few headaches and episodes of itchy throat here and there.

Jay’s third swab results came in today. Negative, finally! Thank you, Lord! 🙏🙏🙏 Best 7th birthday gift for Ediana. 🎉🎈🎂🎁🎊

Now, I’m just waiting for that one more swab to stick up my nose to get that paper that will finally confirm negative. Then, I can go back to hugging and sleeping beside my husband and the kids.

To everyone who reached out, extended help, and expressed sympathy, we remember each of you. One day, we’ll be able to show you how we appreciate your presence in our lives. To those who looked away, we understand. This $h!t can be really scary. We are sending you love, just the same.

Special shout-out to Koko, who for the whole month manned up and became a mother, father, and brother to his sister!

Keep safe. Stay healthy. And listen to Kim Chiu’s Bawal Lumabas.
